While searching for a cemetery in Philadelphia the other day, I came across this article about Monument Cemetery. Despite not having anything to do with the cemetery I was searching for information on, I could not help but read it. When you work with grieving families on a daily basis and see how much time and emotion goes into creating a monument for a loved one, to see how crudely these monument were removed and then used to build the foundation of the Betsy Ross Bridge is extremely disturbing. Although the bodies of the deceased were removed and relocated, there is still something that feels wrong about using these monuments in such a fashion. If Monument Cemetery would never have been abandoned and the deceased relocated, it would be an example of a great Victorian Cemetery.

Take a moment to read the article and let us know what you think!
